Carmelite Triptych

In 2024, Goretti Fine Art was commissioned to create a site-specific mural for a Carmelite monastery in the Midwestern United States. The sacra conversazione-style scene, painted in the studio on 50x10” canvas panels and installed using a marouflage technique, depicts the order’s patroness, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The Madonna is flanked by two giants of the Carmelite tradition: the sixteenth-century Spanish reformers St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross.

Surrounding the holy figures, the painting features trompe l’oeil latticework, wood paneling, and polished marble pedestals, creating the illusion of inset niches and seamlessly integrating the mural into its architectural setting.
